RCCB TEST KIT - Residual Current Circuit Breaker

An RCCB test kit is used to verify the correct operation and performance of residual current circuit breakers (RCCBs). RCCB test kits allow electricians and technicians to test trip times, sensitivity, and overall functioning of an RCCB. Typical features of an RCCB test kit include:

  • Portable carry case for ease of transportation.
  • Adjustable test current output (typically 30mA to 1A).
  • Digital display showing actual trip current/time.
  • Test leads to connect to RCCB inputs.
  • Battery-powered for site testing capabilities.
  • Rugged, safety rated construction.

Proper RCCB testing helps ensure these devices will trip when dangerous earth fault currents occur, preventing shock and electrocution hazards. Regular calibration with an RCCB test kit verifies these safety mechanisms are working properly.

Types of RCCBs

  • AC Type – Reacts to AC residual sinusoidal currents.
  • A Type – Reacts to AC and pulsating DC residual currents.
  • B Type – Reacts to AC, pulsating DC, and smooth DC residual currents.
  • B+ Type – Reacts to all DC residual currents including those with low frequencies.
  • High Sensitivity (HS) Type – Has a rated residual operating current of 10mA or 30mA.

Different RCCB types provide protection capabilities against different types of ground fault currents. RCCB test kits can be used to test and calibrate all varieties of RCCBs.
